A delightful crumble featuring mixed berries, a crunchy topping, and a hint of citrus.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 4 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, combine mixed berries, cornstarch, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
- Pour the berry mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the berries.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can use frozen berries, but do not thaw them before mixing with cornstarch.
- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
