Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef (80/20)
- 1 pound rotini pasta (or penne)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Brown the Beef: In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more, until fragrant.
- Add Sauce & Broth: Pour in marinara sauce and beef broth. Stir well to combine.
- Season: Add dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir to incorporate.
- Add Pasta: Add rotini pasta to the pot. Make sure the pasta is submerged in the liquid. If not, add a little more beef broth or water.
- Simmer: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until pasta is cooked through and liquid is mostly absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Stir in Cream: Remove from heat and stir in heavy cream.
- Add Parmesan: Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.
- Rest: Let stand for 5 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Serve: Serve hot, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, if desired.
Notes
- Substitution: Ground turkey or sausage can be substituted for ground beef. Use vegetable broth instead of beef broth to make it vegetarian.

- Serving Suggestion: Serve with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.
