Description

A comforting baked pasta dish with ground beef, tomatoes, and cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 pound egg noodles
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add onion and green pepper to the skillet and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  5. Pour in crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain.
  7. Combine cooked noodles with the meat sauce.
  8. Spoon half of the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  9. Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  10. Top with the remaining noodle mixture.
  11. Sprinkle with the remaining cheeses.
  12. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and cheese is melted and lightly browned.

Notes

  • You can add other vegetables like mushrooms or zucchini.
  • Adjust seasonings to personal preference.
  • Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
