Description

A classic American casserole with ground beef, tomatoes, and noodles, baked to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 (16 ounce) package egg noodles
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in onion and green pepper and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add tomato sauce, tomato soup, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain.
  6. Combine cooked noodles with the meat sauce.
  7. Pour mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  8. Sprinkle with shredded Cheddar cheese.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
  • Add other vegetables like mushrooms or corn.
