Chocolate Rolo Pretzel Bites

Description

These Chocolate Rolo Pretzel Bites are a delightful combination of sweet and salty flavors. The crunchy pretzels provide a satisfying base for the gooey caramel and rich, melted chocolate. This easy-to-make treat is perfect for parties, holidays, or a simple snack. They’re always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag mini pretzel twists (about 100 pretzels)
  • 1 bag Rolo candies (milk chocolate covered caramels, about 50)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (high-quality melting chips)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).
  2. Arrange pretzels: Place the pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a single layer.
  3. Top with Rolos: Place one Rolo candy on top of each pretzel.
  4. Bake: Bake for 2-4 minutes, or until the Rolos are soft but not completely melted.
  5. Press chocolate chips: Remove from the oven and immediately press 2-3 chocolate chips onto each Rolo.
  6. Let sit: Allow the chocolate to soften slightly from the heat, about 1 minute.
  7. Swirl chocolate: Gently swirl the melted chocolate using a toothpick or small knife, creating a decorative pattern.
  8. Cool: Let the pretzel bites cool completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator until the chocolate is firm, about 30 minutes.
  9. Serve: Remove from parchment paper and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Substitutions: Use milk chocolate chips or white chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet. Peanut butter chips also work well.
  • Variations: Sprinkle with sea salt, chopped nuts, or colorful sprinkles before the chocolate sets. For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the melted chocolate.
  • Make-ahead: These can be made 1-2 days in advance. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Reheating: Not recommended. These are best served cold or at room temperature.
  • Serving suggestions: Serve as a snack, dessert, or party appetizer. They also make a great homemade gift. You could pair it with Hawaiian Bbq Pulled Pork Sliders
