Description
A delicious calzone filled with chicken, spinach, and mozzarella cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound pizza dough
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 10 ounces frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
- 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 0.5 cup ricotta cheese
- 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water)
- Marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, spinach, mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Divide the pizza dough in half. On a lightly floured surface, roll each half into a 12-inch circle.
- Spoon half of the chicken mixture onto one half of each dough circle, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a crescent shape. Crimp the edges to seal.
- Brush the calzones with egg wash and cut several slits in the top for steam to escape.
- Place calzones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- You can use rotisserie chicken for convenience.
- Make sure to squeeze the spinach dry to prevent a soggy calzone.
