Description

Soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls filled with a sweet blueberry and cinnamon mixture, topped with a creamy glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (105-115°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Stir in sugar, melted butter, egg, and vanilla. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled.
  3. In a small bowl, mix blueberries, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and cinnamon.
  4. Punch down dough and roll into a 12×18 inch rectangle. Spread softened butter over dough. Sprinkle blueberry mixture evenly over butter.
  5. Starting with the long side, roll up dough tightly. Cut into 12 equal slices.
  6. Place rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until nearly doubled.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. While rolls are baking, whisk together powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for the glaze.
  9. Pour glaze over warm rolls. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • If using frozen blueberries, do not thaw them before adding to the filling.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the filling.
  • Rolls can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight before baking. Let them come to room temperature before baking.
